starts from Roddi, where we find the parish church and a fortified castle off one of Piedmont’s most beautiful squares. Roddi is home to the Università del cane da tartufo (Truffle Dog University)and participants can visit the little museum and small shop of typical products (honey, truffles, tagliatelle, toma cheese with truffles, hazelnut cakes). Continuing along the hill we arrive at Verduno, the “Sentinel of the Langhe”, with its historic castle that has been transformed into a hotel and restaurant. We’ll stroll down the paths that lead to the best Cru of Barolo, visit the wineries, and have a light lunch in the castle gardens (a traditional Piedmont menu with antipasti, tajarin pasta and a selection of wines). In the afternoon, we continue on to Barolo for a stroll through the historic centre that goes all the way to the Falletti Castle in Barolo and Wi.Mu, the new Multimedia Museum of wine, designed by Francois Confino, whose projects also include the National Museum of Cinema and the National Automobile Museum in Turin). The museum looks at wine in history and in art, in the kitchen and in film, in music and in literature, in universal legends and in local traditions. Then there will be a guided tour of the Corkscrew Museum, which is located in the square facing the castle, where the unusual creation and history of the corkscrew is illustrated. As we group to La Morra, you can admire the exterior of the Castello della Volta and, at sunset, the Barolo Chapel by LeWitt and Tremlett, which is painted red, yellow, blue, and green. There will be a tasting in a wine shop and a stop to view the Langhe from the scenic overlook. LUOGO DI INCONTRO: piazzetta di Roddi.
